Big Oil and their subsidies
Well once again the haves that want more try to discount their greedy pursuit of government hand outs before a Senate hearing.
They admitted...
Questioned about whether the tax breaks are essential to promote exploration, each executive admitted they are not but said the subsidies are similar to those enjoyed by other industries.
Seems simple enough. If they want to act like children lets treat them as such. Some Senator should have asked them after hearing this very lame excuse, "Well if your friends jumped off a bridge would you jump off the bridge too?"
In effect what they are saying is... no we don't NEED them but a few extra billion, at whose ever expense is a nice thing to have, but do we need them? Well you know they are nice and we like them but you know...
What a crock. Why even ask? And you know their bought and paid for Senators then try and lamely attempt to make economically indefensible excuses ala Orin Hatch. No wonder most Americans hate government the way it works.
They see themselves as working their tails off and these fat cats come to town and act indignant that there should be even a question of continuing these 1930s subsidies. Hmmm and no questions of how they came to the Capitol like the beating the auto execs took for coming to DC on private corporate jets? Why not?
Next I am certain the RepubliCants will blame the poor for being poor and give corporations all they want and ask for and more. Because god knows when you give to the greedy never satified rich it always trickles down to us common working folk who should be happy with what ever left overs are still on the table.
Trickle down economics... or as my grandfather used to say, " Don't piss down my leg and tell me it's raining."
By the way, Oil is at $100 a barrel and to bring oil to the surface, about 28 bucks a barrel.
