Steven Vincent

Steven Vincent a free lance writer was kidnapped and found dead soon after. This happened in Basra in southern Iraq. It is said he was abducted on the street in day light by men in uniform. He had reported on the infiltration of the police and military by radical elements in the Shi'te community. Very much like the religious police of Iran. I am seeing very little on this and have not seen anything about an investigation of his death.

I think it a mistake to think of this as one more hapless senseless death of just another western reporter. If he was murdered at the hands of American trained police or other American vetted uniformed Iraqi troops, this is extremely troubling and deserves much more scrutiny by all concerned than is evident at present.
